Network Monitoring Tools?
Is there any software, preferably freeware that does a great job of monitoring a network. I have two computers, one I use and the other is in my roommates room. We share a wired connection, it would be nice to see if he is offline so that way I can shut down my modem at night. The feature I am looking for, is like Norton's Network Map, it allowed us to see who was online and connected to the router and when they shutdown. Something like that nothing complex, easy and simple to use.

My power supply sounds like a tea kettle after shutdown!?
I have a conair 450VX power supply installed by a technician a few months ago. Now about 1 minute after shutting down my computer, it makes a whistling noise kind of like a tea kettle. The technician tested my power supply and found nothing wrong with it and says this noise is caused by my computer having a cooling problem. I've never had a power supply do this and according to BIOS and a CPU and motherboard monitoring tool, the temps are normal. Another tech told me I should check my BIOS since I have an older computer but why would my BIOS not support this power supply but work with others and I doubt BIOS would cause these noises. Should I go ahead and find another tech to install a new power supply. The other tech has a lifetime waranty but I doubt he will take it back when he sees nothing wrong with it. Does Corsair offer a warranty? Is what I was told by the techs wrong or should I get another power supply since imo it's defective and has nothing to do with a cooling problem or BIOS setting.
