Norton AV is constantly blocking intrusion attempts? Makes computer run extremely slow.?
My friend's computer has been running extremely slow lately. I looked at it, and every few minutes his Norton Antivirus pops up a message that reads:
"An intrusion attempt by gerund-hgv36.com was blocked."
Advanced Details:
Risk Name: System Infected: Tidserv Activity 2
Attacking Computer: gerund-hgv36.com (188.229.90.136, 443)
Destination Address: (my IP)
Source Address: 188.229.90.136
Traffic Description: TCP, https
"Network traffic from gerund-hgv36.com matches the signature of a known attack. The attack was resulted from \DEVICE\HARDDISKVOLUME1\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SVCHOST.EXE."
I'm no expert, but basically this sounds to me like DoS attack. The first thing I noticed is that right before at alerts of a blocked attack, the CPU usage of svchost.exe spikes to 99%. So maybe what's going on is the DoS attack/virus/whatever it is, is attacking svchost.exe, which sends its CPU footprint off the chart, then Norton stops it and brings it back down (some, but not completely).
I did an IP trace on the source of the attack, it was located in Romania. I know eastern europe can be kind of shady with this kind of stuff.
Basically I just want to know if there are any ways to stop these intrusions from getting to the computer. Norton is stopping them, but not quickly enough. The computer runs fine for a few minutes, but once attacks start coming in, it's basically unusable.
Would resetting the modem to change the network's IP help? At least temporarily? I'm considering replacing Norton with AVG... I've always had the most luck with AVG. But anyway, if anyone has any recommendations on what I could do to solve this problem, I'd much appreciate it. If you need any more info, feel free to email me and I will help with whatever I can. Thanks!

How Do I See Network Traffic From iPhone to a Device On My Network ?
I have an app on my iPhone that allows me to control a device that sits on my network at home.
I have a universal remote control that allows me to control devices over IP and want to control this device with my remote control as well as my iPhone.
Is there a program that will allow me to see the commands send from my iPhone to the device on my network and then copy them to my universal remote control?
Many Thanks
**ADDITIONAL DETAIL**
My universal remote can send IP strings as I control almost all my devices via IP these days, so is it possible to monitor the traffic sent from my iPhone to said device to work out the commands my iPhone is sending and then duplicate them to my remote?
Or will the traffic be encrypted in some way that will make it too hard to decipher and replicate through my remote ?
Any help is mostly appreciated

I have a network analyser on PC but can see the network traffic between two devices because I don't have port mirroring on the domestic switches. What's the most cost-effective way of capturing this traffic please?
